After riding in the snow and at sea level in Nome so much it was nice to actually climb elevation on a real road no less. A little family time in Maui with my inlaws, the weather just doesn't get better. I borrowed a bike today and rode up the volcano Haleakala, dropped off a little above sea level. The climb was 30 miles of excellent narrow switch backs and took a little over 5 hrs to the summit of 10,000 ft. The desent on the otherhand was a wild downhill hour. Cars were the biggest factor but otherwise a highly recommended trip.
