We are in the tropics of Alaska for folk fest. It is simply amazing the variations in climate within the same state. The temp and weather are incredible. More photos and maybe video to come!

PT- ITI 2015

It’s been a month since this year’s grueling Iditarod trail invitational experience. Processing, 'debriefing' on the phone or email with Jeff, night sweats, 15 lb weight loss, energy fluctuations, body temperature fluctuations and staring into space make it seem more like PTSD than a post race recovery. Physical recovery this year was actually much better than last year but it’s been hard to merge back into ‘the real world’. I think I am finally ready to write about it and hopefully can do it in one sitting so I don’t abandon another write up. Last Year It’s been a long time since I sat in front of my computer to write on this site. I can hardly believe that I left last year’s ITI race hanging as well as the ironman write up and the Deering Trip. While last years ITI, a virtual speedway ice course, was my fastest time into Nome at 12 days and change I was plagued with physical ailments. It ain't no bibler

It's amazing how comfortable my bilber tent is to me. In the four years I've had it I spent over 100 nights in it, had two different grizzlies take a swipe at it, gone through 2 tent poles that broke from downdrafts, exposed to freight train winds of 50+ mph, rain and snow... all the while keeping it like yellow sunshine inside the single wall piece of artwork. Family camping is exponentially more difficult especially without a bibler. Luckily Hahnah slept fine in a portable crib but me... the dark interior, drafty, leaky, mosquito letting netting, wind flapping bad boy had me out the single entrance door taking deep breathes at 2, 3, 4 and finally for good at 5am. Add in a little PTS from my little bear incident and voila!! Instant wakefullness.... all night long.

That’s basically the speed I have been training at all winter. Constant storms and heavy winds, it is getting old. My strava account even thinks I am running bc my speed is so slow.
